A senior player tried to mutiny against Younis: Afridi

Afridi’s autobiography continues to drop bombs as more and more interesting stories are being revealed through that book. The latest big story to unravel is that senior players staged a coup against then-captain Younis Khan during the ICC Champions Trophy 2009.

Shahid Afridi, in his book Game Changer, stated that a senior batsman was majorly responsible for the breakdown of stability and goodwill within the team.

"I won't name him, but one of the seniors in the team at the time, a great batsman in his own right, was majorly responsible for the breakdown of stability and goodwill within the team. It saddens me because he was one of the finest batsmen of those years," Afridi wrote in the chapter 'Strain of Command'.

According to Afridi, that senior player called a team meeting comprising of all the major players and declared an all-out rebellion against Younis Khan in the middle of the tournament. However, Afridi tried to convince him otherwise.
