Pakistan’s bowlers were rendered completely ineffective, as England triumphed in the one-off T20I by a comfortable margin of 7 wickets and 4 balls to spare. Banking on the form of Joe Root and skipper Eoin Morgan, England nullified Pakistan’s pace threat, as only left-arm spinner Imad Wasim posed some problems with his tight lines.
Imad’s limited success with the ball further delineates the point that Pakistan is terribly missing the presence of the unwell Shadab Khan in the lineup. This sentiment was echoed by Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed in the post-match presentation as well, as he yearned for Shadab’s swift recovery from a viral disease.
“We didn't take wickets in the middle overs, and their captain played really well. Shadab, we miss him in the playing XI, but hopefully he'll be well for the World Cup,” Sarfaraz stated. Shadab has been replaced by fellow leg-spinner Yasir Shah for the 5-match ODI series commencing soon.
