Star performer Sana Mir was at her magical best as she scythed through the South African lineup in the first ODI of the 3-match series to hand Pakistan a record triumph by a whopping margin. After electing to bat first, the Proteas found themselves in a pickle early on as they lost wickets right at the top, sparked by a phenomenal spell of spin bowling from Sana.
Only two South African batters were able to reach double figures, as Sana figured in the wickets column in bulk, dismissing 4 of the opposition’s players. Pakistan, spearheaded by their veteran all-rounder’s magnificent efforts, bundled out the home side for a pitiable 63 runs on the board.
Later, the batters made little mess of the small chase, cruising to the emphatic one-sided victory with a humongous 35.2 overs to spare.
“It was a complete team effort by us. The wicket was moist, so we opted to bowl first. The bowlers bowled splendidly and the batters finished the task for us,” Sana spoke in the post-match presentation.
