After failing to grab a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs this season, the Kolkata Knight Riders have embroiled in controversy following Andre Russell’s comments of tensions existing in the dugout. The post-match press conference held after the defeat against Mumbai Indians further validated this news.
“Can’t hide from the fact that there was tension. That was pretty evident from the last few games. We’ve got to address that as a group. What is so important in the IPL is the dynamics of the group and I guess the unity. That’s something that KKR is very, very proud of,” KKR assistant coach Simon Katich said.
Despite starting out strongly this season, KKR’s IPL campaign fell apart as they were unable to gel the unity of the side towards the latter part of the tournament.
“That's something we have to certainly work to get better at, because there’s no doubt that throughout this campaign, the dynamic within our group has certainly changed,” Katich added.
