Former Pakistan opening batsman Imran Farhat has made some damning allegations about Shahid Afridi in the aftermath of the launch of his autobiography ‘Game Changer’. Slamming Afridi’s more controversial comments in his memoir as mere tactics for publicity and being the center of attention, Farhat went on a lengthy rant on social media.
The left-hander has claimed that Afridi used to blackmail the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for sponsorship deals and destroyed the careers of several of his teammates when he was in charge of the side. Farhat thus stated that ex-PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt had wanted to get rid of Afridi in the much-publicized feud precisely because he was creating problems for everyone else in the side.
Casting a negative light on Afridi’s character, the 36-year-old lambasted the former skipper for lying about his age for so many years, proving his highly unprofessional attitude to the sport. Warning Pakistan cricket fans about the supposedly selfish nature of Afridi, Farhat said he would reveal more stories about the star player in due course.
