The Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen an interesting controversy this year as one of the on-field umpires has gotten himself into trouble due to the unprofessional conduct off the field during one of the recent fixtures.
English umpire, Nigel Llong
English umpire Nigel Llong was involved in a heated argument with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli and pacer Umesh Yadav after he had made a wrong call of a no ball in the 20th over.
After the conclusion of the innings, Llong was not happy with the whole episode and he eventually kicked the door of the umpires’ room in the pavilion, damaging it in the process. The umpire later contacted the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and paid INR 5000 to them in order to cover the damages incurred by his actions.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to start an enquiry for the case of Llong and he would face the same repercussions as the players, according to the ICC rules.
