Imran Khan stands firm on regional cricket stance

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) received severe backlash over their decision to completely revamp the domestic structure. The idea of demolishing departments and introducing a regional setup is heavily criticized by all former Pakistan players.

However, PCB’s Patron-in-Chief, Imran Khan is firm on his stance of introducing a regional-teams setup despite getting criticism even from his friend, Javed Miandad.

"Pakistan is the only country where sponsors play their teams, it doesn't happen anywhere else in the world. It doesn't happen anywhere else in the world. Everywhere in the world, only regional cricket is played. When I used to play, I used to insist that the PCB correct the structure," Imran Khan said.

The 1992 World Cup winning captain said that Miandad has his own thinking over departmental cricket. “We need quality and not quantity. Miandad has his own thinking,” he stated. Imran Khan guarantees that nobody can beat Pakistan if the system is fixed.
