Bangladesh’s proposed tour to Sri Lanka in July after the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2019 has been in clouded in uncertainty as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed concerns regarding the security situation in the island nation. The Tigers are scheduled take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series, which now looks increasingly unlikely to happen.
According to media reports, the BCB is closely monitoring the security circumstances in Sri Lanka following the mass bombing last month that claimed the lives of approximately 250 people. The Easter terrorist attacks that rocked Sri Lanka led the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to postpone their U19 team’s tour of the country.
“We are concerned about the scenario. We will take advice from our foreign ministry and the Bangladesh High Commission in Sri Lanka. We are also likely to hold talks with the SLC during the Asian Cricket Council meeting later this month,” the BCB chief executive officer said.
