West Indies star batsman Shai Hope has been in an exceptional run of form in ODI cricket of late, as he smashed his way to yet another century against Bangladesh. Fresh from a career-best score of 170 against Ireland, the 25-year-old punished the Bangladeshi bowlers with a classy knock of 109.
During the course of his valiant innings, the youngster also breached the landmark of 2000 runs in ODIs, becoming the fastest batsman from the Caribbean islands to do this, overtaking his batting idol Viv Richards.
Hope’s magnificent run of form sees him rack up 4 consecutive centuries while batting on the opener’s slot, making him the first opening batsman in history to achieve this record. Despite Hope’s heroic efforts, West Indies were let down by a middle order collapse and a lackluster bowling performance, as Bangladesh cruised to the modest target of 262.
