In an epic battle against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals resisted tremendous pressure to register their first ever victory in the playoffs of the glitzy Indian Premier League (IPL). Before that, Delhi’s franchise engaged in 4 play-offs contests where they ended up on losing side on each occasion.
After winning the toss, Delhi elected to field first as Sunrisers posted 162 runs on the board. Impressive knocks from Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant allowed the unit to gun down the total in the last over thus sealing a fixture against defending champions Chennai Super Kings on May 10.
Right from the start of the season, Delhi looked to have a different level of energy which was reflected in their performances as they consistently delivered against strong teams. The eliminator game against Hyderabad needed another professional performance and the franchise didn’t disappoint its fans.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer was found ecstatic to see a young team producing a scintillating performance. Furthermore, the 24-year-old added that his bunch is determined to beat Chennai and Mumbai and eventually win the glorious IPL title.
