The Sri Lankan team is going into the ICC World Cup 2019 as least favorites to win the mega-event, owing to their poor run of form in the fifty over format in recent times. Sri Lankan captain last played an ODI match way back in 2015.
However, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has provided a boost to the cricketers as they have granted permission to cricketers to have their family members during the 50-overs tournament, starting from May 30.
“They will be allowed to stay till Sri Lanka ‘remains’ in the World Cup stage i.e. if the team reaches to the final, they will be allowed to keep them till the end. If not, they can extend the stay at their own costs,” a source quoted.
