Pakistan’s star speedster Shoaib Akhtar has come for the defense of his former teammate Shahid Afridi in the wake of the backlash following the release of the latter’s autobiography ‘Game Changer’. A book filled with intriguing revelations, Afridi also claimed tensions in the dressing room during his playing days and his tiffs with ex-coaches Javed Miandad and Waqar Younis.
Afridi’s words about the harsh treatment he was subjected to by the seniors has been backed up by Akhtar, who feels that the flamboyant all-rounder should have opened up about this matter two decades ago.
Declaring his support for Afridi amidst the heat of the controversy, Akhtar said that certain seniors were a huge obstacle in the progress of youngsters.
“I think Shahid Afridi has written far less in his book about the harsh treatment he received from senior players during his playing days. I have witnessed some of it myself and totally agree with him,” the Rawalpindi Express stated.
