The debate surrounding Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s batting position has gained traction in recent times with the ICC World Cup drawing ever so close. Several cricket experts have advised the wicketkeeper-batsman to bat higher up the ranks in order to take advantage of the match situation and it seems Sarfaraz is also of the same opinion.
Pakistan’s most successful Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq was also asked about his views on Sarfaraz’s batting slot, and he proceeded to agree with the 31-year-old’s assessment. He said that Sarfaraz has already cleared he would be batting at the no.5 position, and this would be beneficial for Pakistan during the World Cup.
Mibah noted that this plan was not followed in the T20I against England, because of the game situation which required hitters such as Asif Ali and Imad Wasim to enter into the fray early. He, nevertheless, expected Sarfaraz to fulfill his promise and bat higher in ODIs.
