Pakistan has emerged as one of the favorites to win the ICC World Cup 2019, largely due to their triumph in the 2017 Champions Trophy. However, since their CT campaign, Pakistan hasn’t been able to perform on a regular basis.
The Men in Green’s mediocre run in ODIs has made head-coach Mickey Arthur concerned ahead of the mega tournament. Pakistan has struggled in ODIs this year as they lost 3-2 to South Africa and were most recently whitewashed 5-0 by Australia.
“Our inconsistent performance has been my major concern. It can be attributed to the fact that we have a young team so that was always going to be the case. Even then we have played some tough ODI cricket away from home and have done particularly well in T20s,” said Mickey.
Pakistan is currently playing a five-match ODI series against England, while they will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
