Pakistan’s classy opener Imam-ul-Haq has made a habit of piling on heaps of runs, scoring excessively across all conditions. The young left-handed batsman has made huge strides in world cricket ever since he burst onto the international scene, and this time around the victim of his masterful innings was a toothless England bowling attack.
The 23-year-old punished the home side’s bowlers left, right and center as he reveled in the batting-friendly conditions to notch up his career-best score in ODI cricket. Striking the 6th century of his thus far stellar career, Imam caressed the ball to the boundary on numerous occasions.
He accumulated a mammoth sum of 151 runs in 131 deliveries to lead his side’s charge to a daunting total of 358/9. While Imam’s herculean efforts ultimately proved to be insufficient, this bodes well for his confidence and form ahead of the all-important World Cup.
