England fast bowler Liam Plunkett recently found himself in hot waters, after videos surfaced on the internet alleging that the right-armer had indulged in ball tampering in the 2nd ODI versus Pakistan. As the ball had visibly lost its shape, it appeared as if Plunkett had illicitly roughed up the seam of the white ball.
However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) cleared as soon as the controversy erupted on social media. Following suit, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also decided against lodging a formal complaint against the English bowler.
It has been reported that while the board has reservations over Plunkett’s actions, it has refused further investigation into the incident to avoid raising any hostile relations with it counterpart cricketing board and be a party to a new controversy.
