Leg-spinner, Shadab Khan has been declared fit for the upcoming ICC 2019 World Cup after his latest test results reflected zero viral load in his blood, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced in a released statement.
The 20-year-old will now fly to England on May 16 and consult Dr Patrick Kennedy before joining the team on May 20. According to PCB, Shadab’s appearances in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 warm-up matches, scheduled for May 24 and 26 against Afghanistan and Bangladesh respectively, are subject to his fitness and the team management’s decision.
Yasir Shah who was sent as his replacement will return to Pakistan soon. Shadab Khan was named in the provisional 15-man squad, however, he went on to miss the ongoing tour of England after contracting a virus.
The young leg-spinner also himself conveyed the good news of his recovery on his Twitter handle. He acknowledged the support he received from the PCB, friends and family during this testing period for him.
