South Africa's premier fast bowling duo of Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada are on track to make it to the World Cup opener against hosts England at The Oval on May 30, according to coach Ottis Gibson. Both Rabada and Steyn returned home after picking up injuries during the recent Indian Premier League (IPL).
"We feel that those guys are on track. There's nothing that people should be alarmed about. They're going to both make full recoveries and be able to take their place at the World Cup," Gibson said.
Rabada has been a consistent performer across formats for South Africa and was the second highest wicket-taker in the IPL despite not playing all matches.
Steyn, meanwhile, continued to be plagued by a troublesome shoulder and flew back to South Africa after playing just two games for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
