The West Indies opening batsman, Chris Gayle is all set to appear in his 5th and final World Cup. Even at the age of 39, Gayle has continued to perform at the highest level both on the domestic and international level.
Gayle will be one of the oldest players in the World Cup and the Universe Boss is aware that with age comes limitations and to counter that, he has devised his own fitness regime. The 39-year-old chooses to focus more on the mental part of the game than the physical side.
His fitness mantra includes an extensive yoga session followed by a massage which allows him to recover after a hard day’s play. Being naturally strong allows him to avoid the gym and “a lot of rest” in between games is also helping him stay in good shape.
"Age catches up as you ain't getting any younger. But the most important thing for me is the mental part of the game. It is not so much about the physical side of the game anymore. I have not done much fitness in the last couple of months," said Gayle.
