With the World Cup fast approaching, batting maestro Javed Miandad has once again declared his confidence in Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s leadership skills. The 31-year-old has recently experienced a huge slump in his batting form, with critics saying that this has taken a toll on his captaincy standards as well.

Meanwhile, Miandad is of the opinion that there is no better alternative available for Pakistan except Sarfaraz. “I have seen some criticism of Sarfraz as captain but if there was a better leader than Sarfraz or a better wicketkeeper, which is his primary job, then he would have been selected by now,” he said.
“I feel Sarfraz will continue to do well as captain for Pakistan in the World Cup as he showed when he led his side to victory in the Champions Trophy,” Miandad added.
Pakistan begin their World Cup campaign on May 31 as their first game is scheduled against West Indies. The most-awaited clash against India is expected to take place on June 16.
