Afridi reveals the reason of backing Amir after spot-fixing scandal

The spot-fixing row in England which included three Pakistani players Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir tarnished the image of the country. All the three cricketers were banned for considerable amount of time. Amir made it back to the national colors while Salman and Asif still await their chance.

During the scandal, there was a lot of support for the skillful pacer Mohammad Amir who was only 18 at that time. Even the former captain Shahid Afridi was there to back the Gujjar Khan born player who was found in tatters after making a horrible mistake.

Recently, the 39-year old all-rounder revisited the tragic event and revealed the reason of having a soft corner towards Amir. Reflecting on the matter, the belligerent striker added that he backed Amir because he admitted his crime straightaway and didn’t lie like the other two cricketers.

The Khyber Agency born added that during his first conversation with the left-arm quick, Amir said that he’s made a blunder which he also confessed in court. This moved the leggie to buttress Amir in hard times.
