Babar Azam, Pakistan’s top-order batsman, is currently one of the most celebrated cricketers of the country. The sagacious player has produced a plethora of laudable performances and now he is gearing up to do well in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament which happens to be his first World Cup.
Ahead of the all-important mega-event, former Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir has vouched for Babar Azam to be installed as the vice-captain of the side. Foreseeing the Lahore born as the future captain of Pakistan, the 63-year old added that the reliable batsman needs to be groomed for leading the national team. Moreover, he urged Pakistan to stay focused in the upcoming mega-event as he backed them to win the tournament starting from May 30 in England and Wales.
“Sadly, our cricketing culture is full of mistakes. We don’t groom our youngsters well. Babar Azam is Pakistan’s future captain and we should have given him the vice-captaincy role for the World Cup event. The young guys won’t learn if we don’t allow them an opportunity,” said by Abdul Qadir.
