In a series that has seen the bat dominate ruthlessly over the ball, it was refreshing to witness Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Imad Wasim find some turn in the surface. Regarded as the team’s most prized all-rounder, Imad bowled a terrific spell as he effectively restricted the flow of runs from the English batting lineup.
The 30-year-old employed subtle variations in pace and flight as he exhibited a strong showing with the ball. Imad returned impressive figures of 3/53 in his 10 overs, dismissing the key trio of Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali.
He finished the 5-match series as Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker and looks all set to repeat such skillful bowling displays in the World Cup. Providing variety to Pakistan’s bowling arsenal, his spin partnership with Shadab Khan will be crucial to Pakistan’s chances.
