Despite always carrying a sturdy squad, South Africa has failed to seize the moment when it comes to playing in the World Cup tournaments. Even in the last edition of the event, proteas lost the grip of the semi-final against New Zealand to concede yet another knock-out game.
Coming to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 event, skipper Faf du Plessis urged his unit to play a fearless brand of cricket – a thing, he believes, his bunch failed to do in the past tournaments. The 34-year old added that all the players will have to overcome the fear of failure if they want to do well in England. Moreover, the Pretoria born is confident of utilizing the warm-up games and fielding their best XI in the forthcoming mega-event.
“We haven’t always got that right in the past, to play our best cricket at the World Cup, because we put so much pressure on ourselves. We want to just focus on enjoying our cricket. We don’t want these guys to have a fear of failure when they play the World Cup,” added by Faf as he reflected on the 50-over tournament.
