Pakistan’s chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq recently announced the national side's final squad for the upcoming World Cup. Apart from the usual suspects, the likes of Junaid Khan, Faheem Ashraf and Abid Ali had to bear the brunt of the selection committee as all 3 of them were unanimously dropped from the squad.
The replacements, however, which primarily focus on the bowling department, fail to address the nagging issue of all-rounders in the national side. The unsurprising snub of Faheem has further left a gaping hole and has raised questions about the weak nature of seam bowling all-rounders.
Historically, the Pakistan national team have always relied upon fast-bowling all-rounders which have proved to be a lethal option in terms of providing artillery for the batting and bowling units of the squad. Hopefully, Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan provide the Pakistani team with the required all-round package and fill the void left by Faheem.
