All the preparations for the World Cup are done and dusted, as just over a week separates from the commencement of cricket’s showpiece event. Pakistan’s selection committee thus recently finalized the squad for the mega tournament, making three last-minute changes to the group of 15.
Interestingly, Pakistan have kept the unlucky trio of Faheem Ashraf, Abid Ali and Mohammad Rizwan on standby as they will be in England acclimatizing to the conditions and could be called upon for national duty during the World Cup.
“Mohammad Rizwan, Abid Ali and Faheem Ashraf will remain in England. They'll play cricket to stay in touch with the conditions and if we feel the need for any of them as replacements then we'll have them as backup,” chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said.
