The Australian cricket team recently reached England for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. They are among the top contenders for the title this year as many feel that they could defend their title with the current squad.
Cricket Australia (CA) had to make some tough calls this time as they had to leave out one of their premium pacers, Josh Hazlewood, from the World Cup squad. Head coach Justin Langer recently justified his omission by saying that the pacer could not play much cricket during the last 18 months which led to the decision.
“He just hasn't been playing any cricket. He's come off a second stress fracture in his back and while he's just starting to get up and running in the nets now - I think he's played six white ball games in the last 18 months - that's T20 and one-day cricket. We know he's a great bowler. He's a brilliant bowler, but it was just such bad timing for him," said Langer.
