Team Australia has a tough challenge ahead of itself as it needs to defend the world title in England and Wales this year with a fairly young side since many of the current players were not part of the World Cup winnings squad of 2015.
Former Australian skipper and one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Ricky Ponting has backed all-rounder Marcus Stoinis to be the danger man for the Aussies in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup as he provides great balance in all three departments.
In an interview, Ponting said that Stoinis has the ability to bat anywhere in the order but he would like to see him in the top order during the mega event as he could do way more for the team in this way than he has done in the past.
“I think the higher Marcus Stoinis bats, the better off he will be. If we look at the T20 cricket he has played in the last couple of years, be it the Big Bash or the IPL, I think he has developed his skills really well,” said the Aussie veteran.
