Pakistani fast bowler Wahab Riaz has joined the national side in Bristol after getting a surprise call up before the start of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The pacer made it to the final squad after dismal performances of the bowling lineup in the recently concluded England series.
The experienced pacer has been brought into the side due to his recent form in the domestic events while his experience would also come in handy in the mega event. After being away from the national side for 2 years, Wahab is determined to prove Mickey Arthur wrong who had previously criticized him for not winning any matches for the green shirts.
“Obviously, it’s the coach’s duty to get the best results from the players, and he wants players that can win matches for the team. I also wanted to be in the team, the only difference is that I missed 2 years of international cricket. Now I am in and want to prove him wrong and justify my opportunity,” he said about Arthur’s past comments.
