Pakistan would enter the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament with not an ideal set of preparations behind them. Green team was recently decimated by England 4-0 in the five-game series. Before that, Pakistan produced a sequence of lackadaisical performances to get whitewashed at the hands of Australia.
Losing the last 10 ODI games dented Pakistan’s confidence ahead of the all-important mega-event which is to commence from May 30 in England and Wales. However, the ‘unpredictability’ tag of the boys in green has forced many to expect them to go strong in the 10-team tournament.
Joining a long list, the recent man to recognize Pakistan threat is the former Lancashire player and an iconic English cricket figure David Lloyd. The 72-year old opined that writing Pakistan off on account of few shoddy outings would be a terrible mistake as the green shirts are known to raise the bar of their game in the major tournaments. Citing the example of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 event, the cricketer turned commentator added that Pakistan might just surprise many teams again.
