With only a few more days left before the start of the ICC World Cup 2019, the anticipation and excitement are sky-rocketing among the fans and players. In a build-up to the mega-event, almost every ex-player and pundit is analyzing and making predictions on who will be the winner.
Pakistan’s former captain, Shahid Afridi has provided his two cents on the outlook of the Pakistani squad and their chances in the mega-event. Afridi believes that Pakistan has added the right amount of experience into their World Cup squad with the late inclusions of pacemen Wahab Riaz and Mohammed Amir, and have no excuse for poor performance now.
The flamboyant batsman emphasised the need for Pakistan to start the tournament with a few victories in order to get momentum on their side.
“We won’t be playing all our matches against England or Australia. We will be facing different teams. It is vital for Pakistan to start the tournament on a high. They will have to win the first two games. This would provide momentum to the team. The Pakistan players, especially the youngsters are very capable of defeating the best teams in the world,“ he said.
The ‘Boom Boom’ also made a bold prediction regarding Pakistan chances and stated that he is confident that Pakistan will play a final of the World Cup.
