Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy has become the center of heated debate following Pakistan’s horrendous run in ODI cricket of late. Entering into the World Cup at the back of 10 consecutive losses, Sarfaraz is under the pressure to uplift his team’s performances.
In the midst of these testing times for Sarfaraz, former speedster Shoaib Akhtar has called upon the wicketkeeper-batsman to assert his authority in the team. The Rawalpindi Express is of the opinion that if Sarfaraz fails to come to the fore as the undisputed leader of the team in the forthcoming tournament, he will be banished from the captaincy role.
“If Sarfaraz does not exercise his authority, is not visible in the dressing room or his winning attitude is missing in the ground or press conferences and does not bat among the top 5, then no one will remember him after the next 50 days,” Akhtar said.
