With the likes of Australia, New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka having already been hit by injuries, Afghanistan is the latest to get an injury scare just before the start of the ICC World Cup 2019. Wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Shahzad suffered the injury when he was batting in the warm-up game against Pakistan.
Mohammad Shahzad could be in a doubt for his side’s opening fixture of the World Cup against Australia next week with a suspected hamstring injury. The 32-year-old underwent treatment on the field before being helped towards the dressing room having been forced to retire hurt.
Before getting retired hurt, Shahzad had scored quick-fire 23 runs with the help of 5 fours. Shahzad is integral to Afghanistan’s chances in the World Cup and the team would be desperately hoping that the injury is nothing serious.
