Morgan gets injury scare before WC

Eoin Morgan will be fit to captain England in their World Cup opening game against South Africa despite suffering a broken left index finger on Friday that rules him out of Saturday’s warm-up match with Australia.

The 32-year-old was taking part in fielding practice when he was struck on the index finger on his left hand. He went to the hospital for an X-ray to determine the extent of the damage which revealed a "small flake fracture" which will keep him out of the warm-up game against Australia at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.

"He will not take part in the match (against Australia), but is expected to make a full recovery and be available for England's opening ICC Men's Cricket World Cup match against South Africa at The Oval on Thursday, May 30," an ECB statement said.
