Waqar believes Pakistan could pull off something special

The Pakistan cricket team was being considered as one of the top contenders for the world title this year but its recent ODI form and a loss to Afghanistan in the warm-up game has certainly put question marks over the side’s preparation.

Former Pakistani speedster, Waqar Younis, believes that the current side has the ability to make a mark in this year’s World Cup if and only if it could improve the fielding standards which have cost them dearly in recent months.

“Despite everything has gone on in the last couple of months, the country is behind the team. They all believe these guys can win the World Cup. If we can get off to a strong start then you never know, this team has a history of producing magic,” he said.

Waqar has also hailed Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz important to Pakistan’s cause as he feels that the team would rely on their experience to lead from the front in the World Cup.
