Pakistan’s reliable middle-order batsman Babar Azam is stepping into the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament with great form. After pummeling England, the run machine continued his sparkling run in the warm-up game against Afghanistan.
Having a key player in top form seems a good omen for a side which struggled massively in its last 10 ODI games. Babar Azam himself sits confident of repeating his batting heroics in the forthcoming mega-event. Talking to media ahead of the glitzy tournament, the 24-year old admitted that good surfaces will require the green team to play attacking cricket. However, the Lahore born reiterated his role in the team which asks him to anchor the innings by playing a sensible brand of cricket.
Reflecting on the 10-team tournament starting from May 30 in England and Wales, the proficient player added, “My form is quite good and I am hopeful to continue it. Series against England was helpful and conditions were good for batting. We are scoring runs but we have to score them at a brisk rate.”
“My game is not to go out there and blast the opposition by playing high risk cricket. Instead, I have been asked to bat out the overs and build long partnerships,” added by Babar Azam as he stressed on his role in the team.
