New Zealand have always entered the ICC World Cup as one of the strong contenders to win the tournament. However, they are still devoid of the golden trophy in their cabinet. Nevertheless, New Zealand’s opener, Martin Guptill assures that they will leave no stone unturned to lift their maiden World Cup trophy this time.
“I wouldn’t say we are favourites to win the World Cup this time but we have named a strong squad. We know it’s going to be a tough tournament. We are going to try our best, do everything we can to go and win the trophy we missed out on the last time,” Guptill said.
The Black Caps have been the semifinalists (in 1975, 1979, 1992, 1999, 2007, and 2011) whereas they ended runners-up in the previous edition of the World Cup in 2015, held in Australia and New Zealand.
