The South African cricket team would enter this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup without the pressure of expectations as none of the critics are counting them among the contenders for the world title.
Going into such a big tournament as underdogs might actually work for the Proteas as they have a strong enough team to challenge any side in the world. The pace attack of South Africa is among the best ones in the world right now and they could actually help the side in getting over the line for the first time.
Dale Steyn, who is set to miss the opening fixture, has heaped immense praise on young Kagiso Rabada as he feels that the 24-year-old is way above then the rest of the bowlers in the world right now.
“He’s a natural athlete. He could be a basketball player, he could be a sprinter, he could be anything. And when you put a cricket ball in his hand you quickly realize that this is what he was put on earth to do. It’s amazing. You don’t have to teach him anything, it just comes naturally to him,” he said.
