Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir was surprisingly included in the World Cup squad even after not playing a single game in the England series and the dismal performance of the bowling unit further strengthened his case for the tournament.
The left-armer has not enjoyed great form in the recent couple of months as he has failed to take wickets for the side. However, he has now been included due to his experience and good bowling record in England.
Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg does not approve of Amir’s selection as he feels that the Pakistan team management should not have made the panic changes to their World Cup squad as Amir had failed to perform previously.
“I would have put Pakistan in my top four favourites for the World Cup if they didn’t make final changes to their bowling attack. They had quality bowlers there, but they started to panic and went for an experienced bowler who hasn’t performed in last couple of years,” he said after not including Pakistan in his list of favourites for the World Cup.
