Gone are those days when Pakistani batting line-up used to be terribly inconsistent. In the last two years or so, the green shirts have recorded a remarkable improvement in this department and a major credit goes to their top three batters which includes Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam.
If we examine the numbers, the aforementioned players have been contributing a major chunk to the team totals. The laudable and consistent batting displays have even moved the former England captain Nasser Hussain to acknowledge the class of Pakistan’s batting line-up.
However, the cricketer turned commentator reiterated the significance of the top-order batsman Babar Azam in this batting department. While the 51-year old lionized the batting efforts of Imam and Fakhar but he believes that Babar sits as the nucleus of green shirts’ batting.
The Chennai born opined that Pakistan has got itself a high-quality batsman in form of Babar and added that the Lahore born is right there with some of the best white-ball batsman of the modern day cricket. It would be interesting to see how these players counter the pressure of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament.
