Lara wants Indian players to feature in global leagues

The popularity of T20 cricket has given rise to franchise leagues all around the world as players and fans enjoy the thrill and excitement that the shortest format brings to the game. After the success of several leagues, Euro T20 Slam is being organized by the Ireland, Scotland, and Netherlands cricket boards.

Last year, the Global T20 League of Canada did really well as numerous international stars participated in the event sexcept players from India as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not allow them to do so.

Brand ambassador of the Global league, West Indian legend Brian Lara feels that having Indian players in global franchise leagues would help the game of cricket in more ways than one.

“I am not being critical of the BCCI or their cricketers, but the world needs to see some of the great cricketers from India playing here as well. It will be great to see the players from different countries coming together and playing in these leagues. It helps the game and one of my own jobs is to get into schools and see if we can help them play the game,” he said.
