Pakistan’s former captain and member of the 2017 Champions Trophy winning squad, Azhar Ali believes that memories of the Champions Trophy campaign in England can motivate Pakistan team in the World Cup.
Nobody gave Pakistan a chance during the 2017 Champions Trophy but the ‘Green Shirts’ defied all odds to lift the trophy at the end after comprehensively beating arch-rivals, India. Azhar feels that Pakistan is among the few teams who can always come from behind and turn things around.
‘Pakistan is a team that can always make a comeback and we proved it in Champions Trophy 2017, and those memories can be motivating for team Pakistan in these circumstances as well,’ the former captain said.
The 34-year-old believes that it is a good sign for Pakistan that their batting is performing but believes their bowling should step up and peak at the right time to help them win crucial matches in the mega-event.
