Pakistan are off to a horrendous start in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament as the green shirts were utterly humbled by West Indies in their World Cup opener. After winning the toss, West Indies decided to bowl first and fully utilized whatever pitch offered in the overcast conditions.
It wasn’t the seam or swing which led to Pakistan’s demise. Instead, green shirts’ old foe i.e. short balls dented the unit badly. After damaging Pakistan via Andre Russell’s spell, skipper Jason holder introduced the puissance of Oshane Thomas into the attack who bamboozled Pakistan with his extra bounce and pace.
Accounting for wickets of Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Imad Wasim and Wahab Riaz, the 22-year old quick delivered a frightening spell which witnessed him claiming figures of 5.4-0-27-4. Oshane’s exuberance meant that the boys in green were bundled out for just 105 runs, thus recording their second lowest total in the history of World Cups. The speedster was jubilated with his display as he shared that he was confident of putting up a strong show against Pakistan. Without any surprise, Oshane flew away with the player of the match award.
