On a day where conditions were ideal for batting, fans expected Nottingham to dish out a run feast as Pakistan and West Indies looked in good shape to record a gripping game. However, few minutes into the match, the contest started looking one-sided and the trend continued.
Inviting Pakistan to bat first, West Indies tested the green shirts with a plethora of short balls, yielding success more often than not. The boys in green seemed to have no plan whatsoever against the West Indian aggression as they kept throwing wickets away.
The horrible batting display even moved former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar to share his two cents on the game. Reflecting on the game which lasted only for about 35 overs, the 53-year old urged the green shirts to improve their strategy of countering the short balls.
The cricketer turned commentator added that every bowling unit would have witnessed Pakistan’s misery against this mechanism of bowling and they will only give more of the same. Life isn’t going to get easier for Pakistan as their next contest is against England who are currently the top-ranked ODI side.
