South Africa's injury list grew as Lungi Ngidi, the young pace bowler, limped off the field with a left hamstring problem after delivering only four overs against Bangladesh.
It is a massive blow for the Proteas, who already have Dale Steyn out with an injured shoulder while Hashim Amla missed out on Sunday as he continues his recovery from the head knock he took against England.
“Ngidi suffered a sharp discomfort in his left hamstring. We decided he had a hamstring strain. He will be out for at least a week to ten days,” team doctor Mohammed Moosajee told.
Ngidi has had injury issues having missed IPL due to a side strain while playing a home series against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, his ideal replacement should be Steyn, provided he gets fit in time. Steyn bowled a couple of overs in the nets but there is still no clarity on his availability for the India game.
