Sarfaraz shuts down his batting critics

Pakistan skipper, Sarfaraz Ahmed was put in a lot of pressure by the media and some former players for underperforming with the bat and also questioned his captaincy. However, he shut down his critics after an authoritative win against a strong team like England.

After getting thrashed by West Indies to the tournament lowest total, Pakistan batting showed a lot of mettle and desire and managed to score a good total against potent England bowling attack. There has been a lot of talk surrounding Sarfaraz’s batting abilities and what position suits him best. Well, the skipper cleared all the doubts in the recent match.

Sarfaraz came in to bat at number five position and promoted himself ahead of Shoaib Malik and Asif Ali. He forged a crucial 80 runs partnership with Mohammad Hafeez, who was going at the good strike rate. He kept the England fielders busy with his one’s and two’s.

Pakistan’s skipper complimented his partner, Hafeez well and took full use of the powerplay as he struck five boundaries. He scored 55 runs at the good strike rate of 125 and proved to be very crucial for Pakistan in the context of the game as the following batsmen, Asif Ali and Shoaib Malik couldn’t add much to the team’s total.
