The recent political tension between Pakistan and India has affected the game of cricket as well as several reactions from the latter’s fans have politicized the sport. After wearing Indian Army caps in an ODI against Australia earlier this year, the Indian team has found itself in another controversy in the World Cup.
Former skipper MS Dhoni participated in the game against South Africa while wearing gloves with the military-style insignia which has now been disapproved by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
According to several reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has prohibited players from indulging in any kind of retaliatory wicket celebrations during their upcoming fixture against India on June 16th.
The board has urged the players to focus on the game and not indulge in activities like their opposition as they could only have sporadic celebrations like Misbah-ul-Haq’s push-up tribute, but nothing more than that.
