The Afghanistan cricket team has suffered a major blow as they have lost experienced wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad to a knee injury. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has called up Ikram Ali Khil as the replacement of the experienced opener.
As per several media reports, the right-hander has been left in shock on being replaced as he was fully fit and had been part of the practice sessions ahead of the New Zealand clash. It was previously believed that the opener had been carrying an injury since the warm-up game against Pakistan which has gotten worse with each passing game.
The reports also claim that the sudden replacement of Shahzad is a result of the power game in the ACB which also resulted in the appointment of a new captain right before the start of the World Cup this year.
