Coming off a string of low scores, opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan recorded a sensational comeback by bludgeoning Australia to score his 17th ODI century. The 33-year old took some time in the start but then grew from strength to strength to play a memorable knock which saw him mustering 117 runs consuming only 109 balls. To embellish the knock, Dhawan scored 16 sizzling fours. The heroic batting effort allowed India to post a monumental total of 352 on the board.
Backing up the batting heroics, Indian bowlers didn’t disappoint to restrict a powerful Australian batting line-up to 316. This allowed India to make it 2 victories out of 2 games. For a stunning outing and continuing his love affair batting in England, the Delhi born was adjudged the player of the match.
