Dhawan runs riot with a sublime hundred

India continues to prove their mettle against strong teams as the men in blue defeated Australia after taking down South Africa in their World Cup opener. In their second game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament, India won the toss and batted first on a beautiful batting track.

Coming off a string of low scores, opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan recorded a sensational comeback by bludgeoning Australia to score his 17th ODI century. The 33-year old took some time in the start but then grew from strength to strength to play a memorable knock which saw him mustering 117 runs consuming only 109 balls. To embellish the knock, Dhawan scored 16 sizzling fours. The heroic batting effort allowed India to post a monumental total of 352 on the board.

Backing up the batting heroics, Indian bowlers didn’t disappoint to restrict a powerful Australian batting line-up to 316. This allowed India to make it 2 victories out of 2 games. For a stunning outing and continuing his love affair batting in England, the Delhi born was adjudged the player of the match.
