India and New Zealand are the only two teams who have remained unbeaten thus far in the ongoing World Cup. While the Kiwis have been consistent in their clinical performances, it is the quality of opponents that India has beaten which makes the Men in Blue sure shot favorites to win the tournament.
Former speedster Shoaib Akhtar is also of the view that India look most likely to lift the World Cup trophy come July 14, however the match against Pakistan on June 16 at Old Trafford is extremely crucial in determining their chances.
“India is the hottest favorite to win the World Cup until they play Pakistan, because that is going to be a very crucial game for India as Pakistan is going to come very hard at them,” he said.
Pakistan have never beaten India in a World Cup game, and although there seems to be a mismatch between the two sides on paper, the Green Shirts defeated the archrivals in the Champions Trophy final two years ago.
